About a decade ago, during the 2014/15 season, FC Barcelona achieved what every football club dreams of, a historic treble. Under the leadership of Luis Enrique, former Barcelona player turned coach known for his tactical flexibility and high-intensity style, the Catalan team conquered La Liga, Spain’s most prestigious domestic competition, the Copa del Rey, the country's most historic knockout tournament, and the UEFA Champions League, the most coveted prize in European club football, marking one of the most dominant seasons in football history. In the present year of 2025, Barcelona finds itself in a position where history could repeat itself.

As we look back on that unforgettable campaign the journey to glory began with “La Liga”, where Barcelona outperformed Real Madrid in the title race, thanks to the brilliance of Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Luis Suárez, the unique MSN trio. They ended the league campaign with 94 points, two points ahead of their rivals.

Next was the Copa del Rey, where Barcelona faced Athletic Bilbao in the final. A stunning brace from Messi, along with an impressive goal from Neymar, secured a 3-1 victory and their first domestic double under Enrique.

But by far the crowning moment toke place on June 6, 2015, at Berlin’s Olympiastadion, where Barcelona faced Juventus in the UEFA Champions League final. Goals from Ivan Rakitić, Luis Suárez, and Neymar secured a 3-1 win, making Barcelona the first club to win the treble twice, after their 2008-09 victory under Pep Guardiola.

Fast forward to 2025, Barcelona is once again in contention for all three major titles. This time under the leadership of Hansi Flick, along with a renovated and talented squad fans believe in the possibility of the club recreating another historic season. In “La Liga”, the title race is heating up, with Barcelona 4 points ahead of Real Madrid each with 8 more games to go. Meanwhile, in the Copa del Rey, the team just secured their spot in the grand finale. After an exciting 4-4 draw in the first leg of the semi-finals against Atlético Madrid, and an anxious second leg with Ferran Torres being the only scorer, finishing the game 1-0. As for the Champions League, Barça has advanced to the quarterfinals, where they will face the German team, Borussia Dortmund. Securing a victory in this match would bring them a step closer to reliving their glory days.

While the MSN trio is no longer leading the team, a new attacking trio has emerged in the form of 17-year-old winger Lamine Yamal, 27-year-old winger Raphinha, and 35-year-old striker Robert Lewandowski. Much like Messi, Neymar, and Suárez in 2015, these three provide a balance of youth, experience, and flair. Yamal’s dribbling magic echoes a young Messi, Lewandowski’s clinical finishing mirrors Suárez’s goal-scoring instincts, and Raphinha’s dribbling ability draws comparisons to Neymar’s unique flair.

Beyond their attacking trio, Barcelona's strength lies in its rising talents and established leaders. In 2015, Gerard Piqué and Javier Mascherano provided defensive stability, much like how Pau Cubarsí and Ronald Araújo now form a strong backline. At left-back, Jordi Alba's attacking presence and pace were crucial a decade ago, just as Alejandro Balde now brings energy and width to Barcelona’s game.

In midfield, Pedri delivers an effective advantage to his team by stepping up in key moments in the field, much like Iniesta did a decade ago. Meanwhile, Marc Casadó is coming out as a defensive midfield anchor, recreating Sergio Busquets' ability to control the game. All while the box-to-box presence of Frenkie de Jong or Gavi resembles Ivan Rakitić's role in 2015, adding creativity in midfield.

Looking back at that unforgettable season of 2014-2015, Barcelona fans can only dream of witnessing history repeat itself. The path ahead is tough, but with a squad full of talent, determination, and the hunger to reclaim their place among Europe’s elite, the stage is set for another legendary season. If Barcelona can rise to the occasion, 2025 may just be the year that brings back the magic of a decade ago—the year when, once again, the captain can stand before thousands of roaring fans and proudly declare: ‘Visca Barça i Visca Catalunya!’."
