Science fairs no longer support baking soda volcano projects. Instead, modern projects encompass five areas, including Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM), where inventions for the future world are developed. La Floresta students from 7th to 10th grade presented their STEAM projects at the 2025 Science Fair on February 19th at our school’s gym. The fair’s objective is to engage students between the ages of 12 to 16 in the STEAM areas by allowing them to create STEAM-based projects for the fair that impact the future world. In past years, some students have expanded their knowledge in these main areas and performed experiments on DNA extraction, colorful solutions, handmade soap bars, traffic light sensors, solar-powered cars, and robots!

The 2025 La Floresta Science Fair was an absolute success! A variety of projects were showcased, and every group met the creative standards expected of them. The girls prepared for this science fair since January 9, working on their projects and presentations perfectly for the audience. Every group not only had to craft an exciting project and presentation, but they also needed to create a standout setup that would truly showcase their work and captivate the audience’s attention. The most impressive projects are considered for the Science Fair awards following elections made by teachers and coordinators to select the best projects.

From seventh to eight grade, the honorable mention was awarded to the Ocean Cleaner project; the third place prize was awarded to The Sustainable Smart House project; the second place prize whent to the Bio Plastic project; and finally, the first place prize was awarded to the Hydraulic Power Claw Machine project.

Moving on to the ninth and tenth grade awards, the honorable mention was awarded to the Tubo de Rubens project, and the third place prize was awarded to the Bio Diesel project. Three exception projects tied for second place: the R-Ducha project, the Invernadero Sostenible, and the Casa Arduino project. Finally, the first place prize was awarded to the Cama Inteligente project.

The Science fair is truly an important activity for students since it brings out their interest in the STEAM areas and motivates them to pursue their admiration for new advancements. What if a group of students from La Floresta present a revolutionary project for the future?, that would truly stand out in the world, so we encourage all students to persue their interests in STEAM and create new projects that are fruit from their imagination.
